Testimonial: Joan Gullickson, Kansas City MO

Joan came to receive treatment for the first time in 2011. She was treated for age-related macular degeneration or AMD for 13 years. For many years she was able to drive, read, and live a normal “sighted” life. Over time, as often happens when patients move into their late 80’s, there was some decline. She also had an accident that caused some loss of vision. But Joan continued to receive treatments, being able to maintain most of her vision in spite of decline. We always enjoyed Joan’s visits.

In 2022, Joan’s sister developed AMD and she too started to receive treatments for her eye disorder. It became a family affair, as often happens as degenerative eye diseases often run in families. Joan passed away in late 2024. We will miss her, as will many of the patients who were fortunate enough to receive microacupuncture treatments for their eye diseases along with her. We treat in groups so people are able to make friends while here to receive treatment. It’s truly a support system, being able to be with others who are experiencing help with their vision loss.
